The Hunger Games
The opening scene to the hunger games shows two men who look very wealthy, sat on a stage talking about the event that have happened over the years and are due to happen, a tradition. The style in which they are portraying is very overwhelming and different; the man who is the interviewer has bright blue hair, tied back into a ponytail whilst his working a shiny dark blue suit whilst the man who is being interviewed has a really intriguing beard which has had time and effort to style, his suit looks exquisite. They explain what will happen within the film and how they feel no remorse for the actions which will happen because to these pretentious people, the health and well being of others do not matter to them as long as they have their entertainment to keep them jovial.

GOODFELLAS
Action Code:
In the movie Goodfellas, the action code is
this very stern killer look the gang give someone who they’re about the kill or
injure badly. They will go all quiet and seem very calm and relaxed about the
situation, and then they will pull out their gun and blast bullets into the
person a number of times. Whenever any of the Goodfellas go all quiet and calm
after someone tries to belittle them in front of people they will always be calm
right before they go in for the kill.
Binary:
The binary in Goodfellas is Evil vs. Evil
because both gangs are bad, they may have different views and ways they go
around it but at the end of the day they’re both in it for themselves and do not
care for human remorse.
The 5 Step Narratives:
1) Everything was fine with life but Henry didn’t like his home
life. Got a job working for the gangsters in his
town.
2) The Gangsters kill people; Henry and Timmy are left to bury the
bodies.
3) Once Henry is a grown adult with a wife and children he comes to
the conclusion that the big boss of the gang is setting to get him
killed.
4) Henry makes sure his family are safe by being a witness for the
police to make sure that the men in the gang, who set out to kill him, will go
down for a long time.
5) Henry moved away with his family to a place where no one from the
gang would find him or his family.
Genre RESEARCH
Goodfellas is an action film because the violence and use of guns would not be used in comedy or romantic films. The non diegetic sound is music from the 1960's gangster times which has rapidly changed over the course of years; also what is so different about the olden days gangster movies were they were mainly synchronous sound, which means they usually didn't have to add in sounds at the end.
The style in which they dressed were very smart and erudite, this is how gangsters in the 1960's would dress because they had the money to wear and buy what they wanted and they felt superior to have people look and see how great they think their life is because they have everything they want.
Over the years the genre has developed, for instance there's a wide variety of gangster movies such as, American Hustle, gangster squad and many more. The modern versions of gangster movies has more violence and a range of culture, black, white, italian etc..

The opening sequence starts with loud, unpleasant and heart-beating music with screeches tearing through giving a feeling that its someone screaming whereas its really just like a record tape being scratched or something similar to that; you can also hear someone typing on a typewriter. The music sounds very scary and eerie making you realise that this film is far from pleasant and happy.
The use of cross-cut shots are very amazing because it helps make the film seem mysterious and intriguing, the was the writing flashes onto the screen fast a few times also helps with getting their point across that this film is a Thriller. The actions within the shots are specific to the fact that this film genre is a Thriller; the book being turned slowly, the persons fingers slowly wiping a long thin needle stitching the pieces of paper together which they previously wrote.

Genre: Seven is a mix between crime and thriller. The way the transition is set so that the close-up shots flash really quickly also helps to illuminate that Seven is a mix between crime and thriller? Chiaroscuro Lighting is used throughout the opening sequence and Non Diegetic Sound.

"My name is Bond, James Bond". No character in movie history has an
introduction as famous as James Bond 007. 2012 marked the 50th Anniversary of
the world's most famous secret agent. In the spy mania days of the 1960's no one
could have predicted that James Bond would have survived this long. James Bond
survived the shock that Sean Connery was leaving the role, the end of the
Cold War, the changing periods and political correctness of modern times, to
name a few. Critics exclaimed that with the departure of Sean Connery, James
Bond would fall apart. The next five actors to take on the famous role would in
no uncertain terms prove that James Bond has not fallen by the way side, he is
perhaps stronger than ever.
While some would consider the personification of such an important role given
to multiple actors impossible, James Bond has thrived on its portrayal by
different actors. Each actor has given the character its own unique
characteristics adding spice and originally whenever the series was in peril of
becoming outdated.
While governments have come and gone, world leaders have stepped into the
spotlight and have later faded away - Bond remains. Yes, six actors have played
the part of James Bond but the man himself continues; ageless, unstoppable and
forever remains a classic. James Bond should be an old man by now, however he
will always remain ageless in his thirties or forties, on Her Majesty's secret
service, saving the world once more.

Taken is an action film based on an ex FBI agent whose daughter attends a holiday trip to Paris, and is abducted by a mafia who want to sell her for prostitution. Typically, in an action film there is fear and excitement throughout creating the audience to be intrigued; they will have someone to hate and someone to love, this is what action films are all about.
When Liam Neeson's character is determined and fearless, he will not stop at anything until he gets his daughter back home where she will be safe. When Liam's character is on the phone to the man who kidnapped his daughter the camera shot is a close-up (CU) making the audiences attention be on his facial emotion; the hurt, anger and fear.. these are key emotions for this scene and only using close-up camera shot will allow the audience to see his inner feelings.
Towards the end of the film, when Liam is at the place of the auctions and he sees his innocent daughter standing on stage in barely any clothes and a vacant look on her face showing that she is high on drugs, all the men bidding on buying her for their own personal use.. the camera shot is a wide angle (WA) allowing the audience to see the whole surroundings, enabling the fact that she is not there on her own will and she is being treated like an animal in the zoo; having men of all ages gawk at her thinking disgusting thoughts and being pushed into a life of which she does not want nor has she chosen.
The reason why this sequence creates suspense is because Liam Neeson does not know if he will be able to find his daughter in time so that she is alive and well, this initially gets the audience's adrenaline pumping; drawing the audience to feel strongly connected with Liam, wanting him to defeat the bad guys and be the hero.

Takers is a film about a group of grown men who are very well respected business men, who, on the sidelines do no good - Criminals. They dress in suits, smoke cigars and have their own businesses; they are smart about what they 'Take' from vulnerable companies, however when there fellow member 'Ghost' comes out of prison he gets them to agree to a mission, one that can break them, be the end of them living the life they're used to. Things go wrong as 'Ghost' was using them, so that he himself could have all the money to himself.
The scene were the Russian mafia come to the hotel room and shoot aimlessly at them, whilst 'Ghost' has done a runner and escaped through the bathroom window, shows a wide angle shot of the surroundings; Glass smashing, holes in the furniture and walls, the angry intimidating looks on the Russians faces whilst the others look terrified and confused, this automatically makes you feel extremely sorry for the group of men and dislike the Russians because they're taking innocent peoples life's all because of one man who has no remorse and is money hungry. I feel that the wide shot was great because it allowed the audience to see the surroundings and to see everyones body actions and emotions in this time of madness, also it then went to a crane shot of the room and that emphasised that they're all as weak as each other (or strong) meaning that no one will win this battle.
This film meets all the criterias for an action movie seen as there is foul language, sexual references, guns, drugs ad fighting. Takers is a great action film because it shows that although they seem good at what they do, they will get caught in the end or worse, they will be killed. The music through the seen were the Russians came to kill them, was very calm and relaxed; giving the impression that this is it, this is the death of the group that there is no way they will be able to fight back and win. Also, the music is very sad and could be used at a funeral, which help sway the audience into thinking that they will die, they have no bullets left and they're locked in a bedroom with a group of Russians who will stop at nothing to kill them for taking what was originally supposed to be theirs.

Genre Research - Action
What is action?
Throughout my media studies lessons I have come to find that action movies tend to always have a villain and a hero. The heroes tend to be male, who are thrust into a number of wild events that include physical feats, extended fight scenes, violence and frantic chases. The hero will rescue the damsel in distress but he will be defeated in the process which he then finds the power inside of himself to save innocent peoples life.
Why are action films successful?
My first reason as to why action films are successful in the film industry is because there is never a dull moment in an action film. There will always be a fight, a plot which thickens, mostly a happy ending but not always because when an ending finishes with a cliff-hanger it creates suspense, excitement that there will be follow-on movie. The Fast & The Furious series create a world in which most boys love, a world where they can escape and be free.
How will we combined our film opening with successful action films?
Action films have violence, foul language, explosions; all things which have made action movies as successful and popular as they are today. We will have fight scenes which involve weapons e.g. gun, knives, and foul language; this will create the sense that what we are trying to create will be an action genre based product.
