Preliminary Task Planning Materials
These drawings you can see are our planning for our preliminary task. Everything that is drawn is everything in which we would like to accomplish, we want to create everything which we have planned because we have put a lot of effort into what we would like to film and how we would film it. Excuse out drawings, these are just our planning so we did not go into great detail; this is just for us to look at to have an idea of how to film and where to film it.
These images were taken before we started filming, as you can most probably see we filmed in our school; Bridge Academy. We used the music floor to film our preliminary task, the corner section of the music floor was not in use so my group decided that would be the best place to film. We used an abandoned classroom as an office and the small corridor as the corridor leading to the big bosses office and our music floor banister which overlooks the floor below it and central Square and the Cafeteria. These images also show the props we used to film.
I am going to explain each image as clearly as I can:
1) shows Bradley walking along the outside corridor (high angle, long shot).
2) is a close up of Bradley's hand opening the music floor door.
3) is a long angle of Bradley walking into the big boss office.
4) is a close up of Amid's hand tapping a toothpick on the table.

Reflection
Looking back at the prelim task video there are many improvements which can be made; for instance, editing the background music into the scenes to emphasis the emotions in each scene to help the audience feel more in-touch with the characters. I used CuteCut to edit my prelim task video, I edited this on my iPad because it had all the resources that I needed, I also filmed the scenes by using my iPad because it was much easier and quicker than using a camera and transferring the clips to the iPad. Looking back and seeing all the good things I have done for my prelim task video, for example all the great camera shots and the style in which I edited it, although there are significant changes of improvement I can make to the video I am very pleased with the camera shots I used because I used them correctly to how my teacher told me how to use them.

Tools Used
- Computers/Internet: To view blogs and watch examples on the blogs of good and bad practice.
- Storyboard Sheets: To sketch initial ideas (take pictures of my storyboard) this helped my group film the preliminary task faster because we knew how we were going to film our scenes.
- iPads: mainly of use to film my prelim, my group filmed it correctly by holding it at 14:9 ratio. The iPad also came in handy for us to take photos of our storyboards.
- Cutecut: ALthough cutecut has a limited 30seconds, i was still able to edit my prelim to the best of my abilities.
- Casting: For the casting we made it a group effort by using only the members in our group so that we all had a part to contribute to.
- Walkthrough using Camera: the use of our iPad to take pictures of our filming locations before we filmed (good practice) and created a slideshow of the shots in order.

I edited my logo on Flixpress which is a great website for editing your own logos for your media projects. In total the logo takes up 11 seconds of air time which allows the logo to make an impact on the audience because within the first five minutes of watching an opening of a move you will decide whether or not it interests you enough to want to watch the rest of the film. I decided on Tunders Productions because Tunders is short for my surname and as this being my as media course I felt it would be nice for my name to be as the production name because I would have helped create everything to the standards in which I would like them. The mighty storm is just purely for the sake that it sounds quite like an action movie, also it is a rock band which are not famous so this would not be copy write.
The Chase
Genre: The chase is a soft action film more because its based around selling drugs with no fights involved.
Mise-en-scene: Every little detail from the hand gestures to the scenes setting are used wisely to create the feeling of fear, crime and agony. The relaxation the gangster portrays; his body language all relaxed and sprawled out on the chair in his office shows that he is the one in control because in this situation were there is a drug plan going on he does not have no worries and acts as if this is the norm. The lighting is very dark and dim which helps explain that the film is far from happy and welcoming, its fearful and unpleasant. The dark lighting helps shade away half of the faces creating fear and fright. The tone in the gangsters voice shows that he knows what he is talking about and that he fears no one, and he knows no one will get on his bad side because he is extraordinary. The background music has been used very wisely, the first part of the music is a base and really calm but sets the tension within the scenes whereas the other part of the music is an action chase creating adrenaline within your body.
I edited the whole film sequence by myself, on the clip of Bradley opening the door I decided to decrease the speed so that it had more effect and gave the audience a clear view of what is exactly going on in this scene. When Amid slammed his bag down I decided to take out the thud the bag makes as it slams down onto the camera because I felt did not sound as good as I would have liked it to. My group used some great shots for instance, the POV (point of view) of Amid walking over to the balcony and looking over to see Bradley running away. The transitions that were used within The Chase made it look very professional because it wasn't just quick cuts to each different shot, it was relaxing and
calm as it moved from shot to shot.

CINEMATOGRAPHY
This image is a close-up shot. A close-up shot allows the
audience to see the details on the persons face. We can see by this shot that he man is quite old, his facial expressions show that he is very serious about the conversation he is having with the person on the other and of the phone. This cinematography is very effective because it allows you to identify the characters mood by his facial expressions.

This is a two-shot, towing the man with his
back to us holding a gun at the man in front of him who is Keanu Reeves. Because we cannot see the man’s face because he has his back towards us we are intrigued to know if he is of threat or whether he is in danger. This shot allows us to see Keanu’s body language from the waist upwards, his face is stern but yet remotely calm it’s almost as if he is trying to reason with the man which immediately takes him out of the equation of being a bad guy.

This image is a high-angle mid-shot. This
shot makes Keanu look powerless because he is looking up at the camera which shows that he is not in power, he is powerless. The mid-angle shot allows us to see his upper body expressions, showing he is running for the bus, trying to break the window open.

This is a long-angle low angle shot which allows us viewers to
see the bus take its leap across the 50feet gap in the bridge. This shot is spectacular for this scene because the bus completes the jump without plummeting to the ground, and a low angle shot is used to make the object or person who is
looking down at the camera – look in power.

Mise-en-Scene
Speed is set in Los Angeles, covering the
grounds of the runway and the LA Airport. The lighting throughout most of the
film is quite bright because it is set in LA of the day time so everything is
nice and bright, which is quite odd for this occasion because in the film the
characters trying to evacuate the bus without setting the bomb off, in a nice
hot sun shining day.

The expression in Keanu’s face tells us
that he is angry with the person who he is on the phone to however very intrigue to hear what they have to say. The colour of the setting in this picture is quite bright because of the bus that got bombed in the background, also you can see the sun reflecting on the top of the phone and the side of his face.
Throughout the movie Sandra Bullock is
presented as a worrier, smart but nervous wreck whereas, Keanu Reeves is presented as calm, smart and devious man. The old man who is setting up the bombs comes across as a very calm individual who has been able to outsmart the FBI by throwing them off course throughout the majority of the movie.
The costumes are casual, normal day-to-day wear. Apart from when Sandra Bullock gets captured by the deluded bomber man and is forced to wear a body vest which has a bomb attached to it so that if she attempts to run away, the man will kill her by pressing the red button. Keanu and Sandra’s clothes becomes very dirty and torn when they have to escape the bus by throwing themselves out the speeding bus on an exit door underneath the bus.
The atmosphere is very dramatic and overwhelming, not a good overwhelming. Everyone is on edge and scared to death that the bus will blow up at any minute and that the FBI cannot do anything to save them however the crazy old man who is setting up the bombs is very calm and collected; enjoying seeing the pain and worry in the eyes of the people on the bus, news, FBI and most importantly, Keanu’s face.
The props used are an elevator, bus and a
train; these are the main props which is trademark of the movie.
Sound:
The sounds within the film are mostly diegetic, for instance; the talking between characters, the noise of the bus driving, also the noise the bus and plane make when they crash into each other.
Editing:
Slow motion effect is used in the scene were the bus makes that 50 foot jump, making the jump more intense and mind-blowing because that jump seemed immensely impossible but yet possible.
